Biotechnology For Agriculture And Environment by Dr. Pradeep K. Singh, Edition 2016
Biotechnology for Agriculture and Environment is a collection of critical reviews and discusses the application of biotechnology to increase agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of millions of poor people through sustainable and eco-friendly approaches. Biotechnology has long been used to make everyday products (e.g. the use of microorganisms, such as bacteria or fungi, to manufacture cheese, wine and antibiotics). The scope of this term has changed overtime as new technologies have been invented. Agricultural biotechnology is a safe and beneficial technology that contributes to both environmental and economic sustainability. Farmers choose biotech crops because they increase yield and lower production costs. Farmers get a greater financial return while using more environmentally friendly farming practices through the use of agricultural biotechnology.
